Introduction
When we saw the Chronicle Books Lego Rainbow Bricks puzzle, we knew we had to have it. Between our love of all things Lego and our addiction to jigsaw puzzles, this puzzle was a match made in heaven.
With 6 boys in our house, there is no shortage of Legos. We may not be the biggest collectors, but we have accumulated a significant number of bricks over the last 16 years. Lego sets have been purchased, assembled, disassembled, and collected in a large bin underneath a bunk bed. It finds its way out frequently where the hodgepodge of bricks is regularly turned into inventions of creativity.
We love Legos!
Quality
We were a little concerned when we first opened the box and began sorting the pieces. We found several that just hadn’t made it through the cutting and separating process at the factory. It’s like the puzzle die was dull and separation incomplete. This left many pieces damaged with the layers of the puzzle pieces separating and a few even had the image peeling off the cardboard.
Otherwise, the quality was spectacular and the packaging was pro. The puzzle was found inside a resealable bag. This attention to detail shows how much Chronicle Books knows their customers.
One additional thing that speaks to the quality of the puzzle is how the pieces lock. The pieces of the Rainbow Bricks puzzle fit together so tightly that we were able to do the puzzle pickup challenge with ease.
Experience
Despite the damaged pieces, we soldiered on, getting things separated into colors and assembling the border. We quickly found our rhythm and completed the puzzle (2 adults) over three days in about 6 hours. Surprisingly, the damage was mostly unnoticed once the puzzle was complete and the finished product nearly made it up onto the #5 child’s wall. After we disassembled the puzzle, we regretted not framing it for his wall because it matched the colorful motif of his bedroom so well. Perhaps we will work it again soon.
Conclusion
Chronicle Books Lego Rainbow Bricks puzzle is just one of several Lego puzzle choices the company offers. While we initially had concerns with the puzzle, upon sharing this with the puzzling community, it seems as though this was an isolated incident. With a beautiful, sturdy puzzle at the finish, it would be hard not to recommend this puzzle to you. If you are a Lego fan like we are, it would make a great project for your family.
