The story behind today’s daily jigsaw: While assisting some people who were cleaning out the dusty basement of an old mansion in West Virginia, I came across this Stultz & Bauer upright grand piano made in New York City in the early 1900s. The keys tinkled out of tune strings and the finish was cracked from years of neglect. No one but myself was concerned with the value of such a musical treasure. It pained me to see them bust it into thousands of pieces with a sledgehammer and ship the metal parts off for scrap. What would you do if you discovered a piano like this in a dark basement? At least you can appreciate it in our latest daily jigsaw.
