Alligator Xylophone Jigsaw Puzzle

When I was a percussionist in the high school band, I was once demoted from the “quads” to xylophone. I spent more time than I care to admit, tinkling away on those clanky keys. Imagine the high school flashbacks that emerged when our 6th child started pounding away on this Fisher-Price Alligator Xylophone!

The xylophone dates back many centuries to both Asia and Africa. Some actually claim that its origins trace back to 2000BC. A true xylophone actually has wooden keys but most people call a  metallophone (metal keys) by the same name. The keys, arranged like those on a piano resonate once struck. The instrument is played with rubber, plastic, or acrylic mallets to produce different musical effects. At times, even yarn mallets are used. It produces a beautiful sound that enhances both marching band and concert performances.

Toy makers like Fisher-Price have produced different models for a number of years. This follows a belief that the xylophone (metallophone) is beneficial for early childhood education. This combines fine motor skills, speech and musical development in children. Likewise, music appreciation has been a valued asset in Western education and taught for decades.

Another very beneficial tool for improving fine motor skills, spatial reasoning, problem-solving, and several other cognitive benefits is jigsaw puzzles. Today’s daily jigsaw puzzle is a 48 piece image of a Fisher-Price Alligator Xylophone. It is sure to be a favorite among children and adults. Can you finish it faster than your child or grandchild? You should both give it a go and see.

If your little one needs more alligator puzzles to seize all the benefits of jigsaw puzzles, the Alphabet Alligator Wooden Puzzle will also help them learn their ABCs.
